It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the inaugural session of the Japan Middle School Model United Nations (JMSMUN). This two-day online workshop and conference has been designed specifically for Japanese middle school students who are eager to experience the world of Model United Nations.
日本中学生模擬国連（JMSMUN）の第1回セッションに皆様をご招待できることを大変嬉しく思います。この2日間のオンラインワークショップ兼会議は、模擬国連の世界を体験したいと考えている日本の中学生のために特別に設計されました。
Model United Nations develops critical skills that extend far beyond the conference room: public speaking, diplomatic negotiation, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding. Through this workshop, delegates will learn the fundamentals of MUN procedure while engaging with one of today's most pressing global challenges: protecting human rights in refugee camps.
模擬国連は、会議室を超えて広がる重要なスキルを育成します：パブリックスピーキング、外交交渉、批判的思考、そして異文化理解です。このワークショップを通じて、参加者は現代の最も緊急な地球規模の課題の一つである難民キャンプにおける人権保護に取り組みながら、MUN手続きの基礎を学びます。
Our first day will focus on education and preparation. Delegates will learn how to write opening statements, understand resolutions, draft amendments, and master Points of Information. On the second day, we will put these skills into practice with a full mini-conference experience, complete with debate, negotiation, and voting procedures.
初日は教育と準備に焦点を当てます。参加者は開会演説の書き方を学び、決議案を理解し、修正案を起草し、質問手続きをマスターします。2日目には、これらのスキルを討論、交渉、投票手続きを含む完全なミニ会議体験で実践します。

Why this topic matters: Millions of people worldwide are forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution, living in refugee camps often designed as temporary solutions but used for years. In these overcrowded settlements, basic human rights are frequently at risk. Residents face inadequate access to clean water, food, and healthcare, alongside safety concerns such as violence and lack of legal protection. Children often miss out on education, creating a "lost generation." In this workshop, we will discuss how the international community can improve camp conditions, ensure safety, guarantee access to essential services, and uphold the dignity and rights of every refugee.
重要性： 世界中で数百万人が紛争や迫害により家を追われ、難民キャンプで生活しています。これらは本来「一時的」な解決策ですが、実際には何年も使われることが多くあります。過密なキャンプでは、清潔な水、食料、医療へのアクセスが不足し、暴力や法的保護の欠如といった安全上の問題も深刻です。また、多くの子どもたちが教育を受けられず、「失われた世代」となるリスクに直面しています。今回のワークショップでは、国際社会がどのようにキャンプの環境を改善し、安全を確保し、不可欠なサービスへのアクセスを保証し、すべての難民の尊厳と権利を守るべきかについて話し合います。
